Work Injury in Yakima Valley
Many people are surprised to find out that the majority of work injuries in Yakima do not occur because of serious accidents. The truth is that most injuries in the workplace happen from overuse and while performing everyday, simply tasks.
The most common of all the risk factors associated with work injury is repetitive stress. Small tasks that happen with poor posture create big problems over time. Twisting and turning while moving boxes or even continuous typing in a poor position. You would think it’s the big package that falls on you, but it’s the small ones handled more often each day that create the majority of injuries.

Work Injury in Yakima
Department of Labor and Industries, Self-Insured and COHE
West Valley Chiropractic office has been working with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) since 1991. There are many rules that must be met and forms to be completed to ensure proper claim handling. Our office undergoes yearly training to make sure we are up to date on the latest rules. We do our best to keep employers well informed of patient progress. As always, our goal is to get patients to pre-injury status as effectively as possible.
Many businesses in Yakima use a Self-Insured Worker Company. These companies all must adhere to the same guidelines and regulations as L&I. Our office works with all Self-Insured companies.
The Yakima Valley is very fortunate to have the COHE program (Centers of Occupational Health and Education). This is worker centric program. They focus on good relationships between injured worker, medical provider and employer. They do their best to keep all parties informed of training and educational programs available as well as helping with L&I rules. Our office has been in excellent standing with the COHE program and we enjoy a very productive relationship with the great staff at the COHE offices downtown.
